Today, a Land Information System is being created in Lithuania. It is a long-term and a difficult task. Some of the land cadastre data is necessary to have already at the existing moment. Therefore, the article suggests a technology for building a geoinformation system of land cadastre which would serve to meet the needs of the City Department of Architecture and Building. This study aims to determine devices and methodology which would ensure creation of land cadastre geoinformation system and its functioning. For this purpose, a model of land cadastre attributive data base has been formed for the territory of Žvėrynas City Ward, Vilnius, using ACCESS data base management system. Geoinformation system requires not only attributive data but graphic data, too. Thus, the article also analyses methods of the formation of graphic data base. The research has shown that the programmed data management system can be used as a means for the accumulation of the attributive data. A conclusion can be drawn that the graphic data base should be formed directly from geodetic survey. Graphic data may be converted into the digital format using different CAD systems but all of them are necessary to be transformed into the unified format, acceptable to the software used by GIS. Moreover, it is very important to plan data renewal because data base very rapidly gets outdated and, thus, loses its value.
