A proposal how to take into account in LST EN 1996-1-1 the influence of indirect (transversal) bed joint reinforcement in the form of steel fabrics on compression strength of masonry in direction perpendicular to the bed joints is presented in the paper. Comparison of design carrying capacities of compressed masonry members, determined according to the method proposed for the National Annex to LST EN 1996-1-1 and the method used in STR 2.05.09:2005 acting in Lithuania now, taking into account relative eccentricity, slenderness ratio and elasticity factor of the masonry is presented as well.
