Researchers from the VILNIUS TECH Road Research Institute have almost finished the implementation of the European Union Twinning project “Support in the establishment of a comprehensive road safety database and further improving road safety management in Georgia”. During the two-year project, the concept of the National Trauma Register was developed and recommendations on how to improve the legal framework of Georgia to implement the proposed concept were also prepared. Furthermore, four trainings for representatives of medical personnel were organised in different regions of Georgia. These trainings focused on the introduction to the serious injury classification system (MAIS3+), the concept of the National Trauma Register, the necessary data from the health sector to determine the number of seriously injured road users, the importance of data quality, the duty and involvement in providing the most detailed and accurate information about road users injured during a road accident.
