Abstract

There are some popular English language word games that can be useful for students to practice the Maritime English vocabulary. Word search is a classic English language word finding game. It consists of grid letters arranged in rows and columns. Within the grid are words that may start at any point, and go off in any direction. A crossword puzzle is a grid of black and numbered white squares in which letters can be written. Puzzle solving involves several useful skills including vocabulary, reasoning , spelling, and word attack skills. These two popular games are useful for learning and reinforcing Maritime English vocabulary and, in addition, help students to improve their communication skills.
