For improving the quality of ground water, the greatest attention must he given to the biological oxidation water treatment technology [4, 5]. Capabilities of the present biological oxidation technology are still not fully revaluated. Experiments were carried out over 2001-2002 in the Antaviliai water works and in the Kirtimai watering place junctions with aim to remove iron and manganese from groundwater by the use of microbiologically unit operations. The results of the investigation show that filtration ensure water quality that meets the requirements for a high quality class [2] and iron bacteria was founded in filter media. The biomass of iron bacteria was evaluated by COD method and it was highest in the 0.2-0.5 m. and in the 1.6 m. filter bed deep.
