Abstract

By the of this method it is possible to increase bearing capacity, fire resistance and durability of glulam bearing elements. This method is used to strengthen joints of such important units as large span beams, frames, arches and trusses as well as particularly dangerous places. The increase of bearing capacity consists in the use of presstressed elements. It allows to enlarge the resistance of these elements under the cross forces and reduce the impact of tensile cross stresses on their bearing capacity. The method also gives the solution of the problem of setting of inserts of any size and shape made of different materials for joint constructions and as well as strengthening of dangerous places, this way of setting allows to increase fire resistance and durability of such elements greatly. The technical solution has been certificated by the authors licences of the Soviet Union.
