Since 2015, after the tightening of the requirements for vessels operating in the Baltic Sea, they must use less sulphur and one possible solution for that is liquefied natural gas. LNG-powered vessels are vessels that use marine fuel of the future, which is more environmentally friendly. The article analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of LNG. LNG has been found to be a quieter and more efficient system with lower environmental pollution. Disadvantages: undeveloped infrastructure, large LNG tanks take up a lot of space on board. There are three ways of bunkering the LNG-powered vessels: Coastal Point — Ship; Tanker truck — Ship; Tanker ship — Ship. The choice of the bunkering scheme depends on the size of the LNG tank. The world's largest ships that use LNG technology was identified. It's an „AIDAnova“ liner, which started operating in December 2018 and is 337 meters long and also „MS Thjelvar“ ferry, which is 200 meters long.
