Many unknown manufacturers sell spare parts of motor vehicles in Lithuania market. So far Lithuania has not established any testing stations for certification of spare parts of road vehicles. In this paper, the results of testing disc brake pads according to the standards ISO 6312& ISO 6310 performed at the VGTU Department of Automobile Transport are presented. International Standard 6310 specifies a method for measuring the shear strength of disc brake pad and drum brake shoe assemblies with regard to the adhesive connection between the brake lining material and lining carrier. First, the disc brake pads assemblies were tested for shear stregth. Test results have shown that their shear strength is by 1,5-2,0 times higher than specified by the standard. The friction material of disc material of disc brake pads was tested for compressibility. The international Standard ISO 6310 applies to disc brake pads, brake shoe assemblies and friction materials without a bracking plate to be used in road vehicles. It specifies a method for testing and measuring the compressibility of brake linings. The results have shown that the compressibility of friction materials of all tested brake pads, made by little known manufacturers, conform to the requirements of the standards.
