The technical state of cars being in service in Lithuania is very poor. Analysis showed that the effectiveness of braking depends much on the depth of the notching of a protector, especially on a wet asphalt road. A great part of cars (about 40 procent) moves with tyres with the depth of the notching of a protector less than 3 mm; with such depth of the notching of a protector the effectiveness of the braking becomes considerably low.
