Deterioration of automobile parts results in engine compression decrease. Engine longevity decreases and its work becomes worse. Many methods of engine longevity prolongation are described in literature. Most of them are based on the quality of oils and oiling system, usage of standard parts which should be changed in time. The aim of our work is to increase the longevity of an automobile engine with special processing of its details of the working surfaces by a laser beam in order to make them wear-resistant. We have constructed a special device for examining friction processes in order to prove the superiority of this method. The kinematic scheme of the constructed device presented in Fig 1, will be mainly used for examining the deterioration of engine parts (the automobile crankshaft and valve rocker) after affecting their working surfaces with a laser beam. Using this device we can explore not only the wear- out of engine parts but to solve some other problems, such as: the influence of motor oils and some of their additional compounds on engine work, the influence of engine work regiment on its deterioration, the influence of temperature on engine work and other problems which are urgent for work evaluation of any engine.
