Inhabitants could save expenses for heating and increase quality of living after effective renovation of old multi – family apartment houses or individual houses. Supplement external thermal insulation of constructions is one of the most effective solutions during the renovation process. In order to conform to the required thermal resistance value for roofs, supplement thermal isolation layer could be laid. According to the individual cases, the average thickness of the layer could be in the range of 100–200 mm. Nowadays, two schemes of the insulation of the flat roofs are introduced: products of mineral wool with ventilated air channels and without them. The objective of the research is to determine the most effective selection of the system used for the thermal insulation of the renovated flat roofs with mineral wool plates which are introduced in the market, while conforming to the requirements of the existing Building norms.
