The purpose of this work is to investigate the effect of ferment preparation upon the effectiveness of the biological sewage treatment process under various concentrations of nitrogenous salts. During this experiment methods of nitrogen concentration in the water were considered and adopted. A lab-scale activated sludge system has been designed and built to simulate a full-scale installation. Roebic is a relatively cheap technical non-purified ferment preparation, produced from microbial material and processed to a low degree. 0,2 ml/l of ferment preparation was added. Changes of nitrogen concentration in the water under examination were determined after using enzymes. The results of experiment showed that nitrogen concentrations in the cleaned water using enzymes are less and treatment effect is better from 4 till 18 %. The calculation of kinetics of reactions based on oxidation rates shows that the introduction of ferment into the activated sludge system allows achieving oxidation rate values that are larger by 1,2-2,0 times throughout the testing period.
