Abstract (en)
Parallel algorithms and stabilisation techniques for solution of convective transport equation by FEM are investigated in this paper. The accuracy and the performance of the Teylor-Galerkin method, the Petrov-Galerkin method and the Galerkin Least Squares method are compared. The space-time GLS formulation is chosen as the most accurate and stable. The parallel algorithms based on the domain decomposition and iterative GMRES solver are implemented in order to reduce long computing time associated with space-time GLS method. The test problem of the rotating cone is solved on the PC cluster VILKAS of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University. The speed-up and the efficiency of parallel computations is measured and evaluated.
