This paper reveals the correlation between the technical state of an automobile and the rate of road traffic accidents in the country. The research work is started with the survey of traffic accident statistic and evaluation of technical state of automobiles in Lithuania. The regression analysis of correlation between the damage of various systems of automobiles and number of accidents in the Republic of Lithuania is presented. Finally, the basic conclusions are given.
