Abstract

The article presents possibilities of biological iron and manganese removing from underground water supply in Lithuania. From total water quantity of centralized row water supply systems, where water contains F and Mn in bigger quantities, than is allowed in requirements of HN – 24 : 1998 for “very good” and “good” quality water, there is possible to apply biological iron and manganese removing technology for 37,3 % of water. Physical – chemical and biological oxidation in competitive area is applicable for 45,4 % of water and for 17,3 % of total water quantity is possible to apply physical – chemical way of iron oxidation. From total water quantity, which is supply to water treatment plants is possible tov apply biological iron and manganese removing technology for 72,3 % of water. Physical – chemical and biological oxidation in competitive area is applicable for 15,2 % of water is applicable physical – chemical iron oxidation way.
