Abstract (en)
The arcticle analyses the effects of heavy metals on the fish li-ving in river Šešupė. Fishes from the last trophic link in auatic eco-systems, and therefore they accumulate the largest amounts of pollu-tants. As fish form the last, tertiary biological production in waters, monitoring of fish population and communities is important to esti-mate the quality and stability of aquatic ecosystems. Fish species chosen for those purposes, and monitoringo f accumulation of heavy metals in fish tissue. According of the data the LCA (largest concent-ration allowed) in the fish is not exceeding.
