Abstract (en)
Chlorides, used for road maintenance, make negative environment impact. Chemical solutions of the melting snow necessary get into the soil, and it might change soil strength. It also gets into the ponds. Hydro physical and chemical parameters of investigated lakes depend on anthropogenic processes. Diatoms were used as indicators for reconstruction of paleoecological histories of the lakes. They respond sensitively to changes in lake water salinity. A total number of 35 indifferentic - halophilic species from 78 all diatoms taxa were identified in the lakes bottom sediments. The fluctuations of their abundance during all Verkiai ponds access of salts, stimulating the productivity of indifferentic - halophilic species.
