Study and assessment of transport noise in Panevezys town

Abstract

Acoustic assessment of the territories near residential houses, selection of the most effective and cost-efficient architectural planning, acoustic and organisational-administrative measures intended for reducing the traffic-generated noise must be performed on the basis of noise maps. The purpose of noise study is to lay ground for noise maps by measuring the equivalent and maximum noise levels in selected places in the town of Panevėžys and the noise levels produced by stationary and mobile sources. The main reasons for exceeding the noise limits in the living surroundings are the lack of noise-reducing partitions between the roads and residential areas, construction of residential houses near the streets with intensive traffic, technical condition of vehicles, too high speed of the traffic within the towns and settlements.
