Abstract (en)
The main structural members of containment structures are walls subjected to the pressure of liquids or particulate materials, which depends on destination and structural solution of the containment structure and other effects. Forces in walls of such containment structures due to internal or external normal pressure are determined as these for a shell of revolution with allowance for edge effect. Evaluation of the latter effect is associated with structural solution of base slab and roof (if any). Base of underground containment structures is a structure placed on elastic foundation. The base can consist of several interconnected structural members (rings, slabs, shells etc.). [...].
