Analysis of occupational safety and health at work after becoming Lithuania member of European Union

Abstract

Safety workplace is the way to successful business. In nowadays when work world is changing very quickly, the problems of health is changing also. By the data of Work safety and hygiene encyclopaedia yearly died 100 000 workers at work. Occupational safety and health at work become the priority decision making area in all European Union (further – EU). Not exception is EU directives object – take measures which will improve working conditions. Lithuanian integration into EU, accepted and implemented requirements of EU law acts are necessary to estimate a stable and safe state development which is a basic welfare condition. Therefore in this work the main requirements of EU directives in occupational safety and health corresponding to the national law acts are estimated, opportunities and uses of lend support for implementing of preventive measures from EU and Lithuania’s funds are reviewed, the number of accidents at work in the most dangerous sorts of economical activities and economic consequences are analysed. Lithuania’s changes in occupational safety and health are analysed according to results of a comparison analysis. The state of occupational safety and health at work in construction in years 2003 and 2005 is analysed more thoroughly. To achieve objective there were used methods of statistical analytical, poll, analysis methods.
