One of the principle indexes characterising the durability of manufactured ceramic products is their frost - resistance. Only the products, their water absorptive power not exceeding 5 % and the density of ceramic fragments exceeding 2000 kg/m, can obtain a proper frost - resistance level. This work presents and analyses the researches of late years aimed at producing vitreous ceramics from the local easily fusing sports of clay. It is discovered that this result can be achieved either by forming mixtures of two or more sports of easily fusing clay or by adding to the clay mass extra ingredients stimulating formation of liquid phase at the temperature <1000 C.
