The present-day technologies of aerial photogrammetric mapping significantly influenced survey practice because of its successful implementation as a mapping method. The quality of the modern aerial photography is the main factor for selection of the techniques and parameters for flight mission. Aerial photographs quality depends on successfully photographic mission specified by automatization and requirements that meet not only Lithuanian needs, but also requirements of European Union. For such purpose investigation has been done for detail specifications for aerial photographic mission for mapping of urban areas. Experience in Lithuania as well as in abroad (Poland, Germany, etc.) and specified requirements for aerial photography for urban territories mapping at a large scale such as 1:1000 or 1:2000 applying photogrammetric mapping approach – orthophotography have been investigated. It is suggested that scale of colour aerial photography 1:5000 or 1:6000 could be used. The aerial photography requirements as well as the tolerances of photographs tilt and swings round (yaw) are presented. Digital camera based on CCD sensors and on-board GPS is great-appreciated undertaking aerial mission. Possibility of usage the digital photogrammetric cameras are foreseen and their desirable technical characteristics are investigated. In such case the efficiency of digital photogrammetry increase and the mapping price reduces particularly when large area of aerial photography will be acquired.
