Artificial intelligence in business: challenges and prospects for developmentItem type:Publication, conference paper[2026][P1e]; New Trends in Contemporary Economics, Business and Management : Selected Proceedings of the 16th International Scientific Conference “Business and Management 2026", May 14–15, 2026, Vilnius, Lithuania, p. 267-278Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a transformative force in contemporary business management, yet its practical integration remains uneven due to barriers such as technological readiness, competence shortages, and regulatory uncertainty. This study aims to identify the key challenges and development prospects of AI implementation to enhance business efficiency and ensure sustainable development. Employing a foresight research methodology – including expert evaluation, scenario analysis, and semantic modeling – the study utilizes data from a 2025 session at Vilnius TECH University involving interdisciplinary experts. The findings highlight four critical success factors: technologies and innovation; human capital; financing and partnerships; and risk, security, and ethics. While AI’s strategic importance is growing, organizations must address the need for continuous workforce upskilling, stronger ethical governance, and more adaptive regulatory frameworks. Based on these results, a structured roadmap for AI implementation was developed, covering stages from preparation and pilot implementation to scaling and innovation-driven growth. Ultimately, this study contributes an integrated framework for understanding AI in management, providing strategic guidance for organizations to balance technological innovation with responsibility and risk management.
11 16 From users to non-users: why improving satisfaction of competent public e-service users mattersItem type:Publication, conference paper[2026][P1e] ;Titova, Anita ;Leonards BudniksCaune, JanisNew Trends in Contemporary Economics, Business and Management : Selected Proceedings of the 16th International Scientific Conference “Business and Management 2026", May 14–15, 2026, Vilnius, Lithuania, p. 258-266Although many public services are available online, actual citizen uptake remains limited and uneven across social groups. This study examines continued public e-service use among institutionally more competent users in Latvia, using survey data from 1,059 respondents. The analysis applies descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, and a TCT-inspired framework combining correlation analysis and structural equation modelling to test relationships among perceived usefulness (PU), perceived ease of use (PEU), service outcome success (SO), satisfaction (SQ), frequency of use (UF), and number of services used (UN). The results show that PU and PEU are strong predictors of SQ, whereas SQ has only a weak association with UF and does not significantly explain variation in UN. A counterintuitive finding is that SO does not significantly predict either SQ or UF, suggesting that, for competent users, usage may be shaped more by administrative necessity than by episodic service outcomes. Descriptively, satisfaction with concrete service experiences was moderate. Although satisfaction is not a strong behavioural driver within this group, increases in satisfaction may still matter for wider diffusion, as competent users can act as credible opinion leaders whose experiences influence broader uptake of public e-services.

In the growing online world, websites stand out as dynamic hubs of commerce and technological innovation. The changing trends in online commerce are shaping how people make purchases, the need for identity verification to ensure that shopping remains secure, while customer feedback helps companies adapt, innovate and improve their work. The Article analyses theoretical aspects of user experience and the user experience on the Internet, as well as presents the cases of user experience in the online space. The user experience in the online space determines whether the user will want to return and use the product again, purchase the service, or recommend it to others, however, it is the totality of emotional, practical and personal reactions that arise when using the product or service interface. UX in Amazon, Zalando and Zoom were analysed. Each of these UX case studies is a great example of how to effectively present design decisions and outcomes. Each case study demonstrates the designer’s insights, key skills and the lessons learned from their experiences.
4 14 Exploring e-government’s impact on the digitalization of the HoReCa sector in post-war economies: a systematic literature reviewItem type:Publication, conference paper[2026][P1e] ;Mustafa Yaasin Sheik ;Rasim Isgandarov ;Pavlyuk, DmitryZervina, OlgaVilnius : Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, 2026, p. 1-9This systematic literature review explores the impact of e-government on the digitalization of the hospitality, restaurant, and café (HoReCa) sector in post-war economies. It examines how digital government initiatives contribute to the recovery and transformation of the HoReCa sector, particularly in conflict-affected transitional economies. The review consolidates findings from studies in governance, digital transformation, and tourism, demonstrating how egovernment can help businesses operate more efficiently, expand their customer base, and promote entrepreneurship in regions emerging from conflict. It highlights key themes, such as how crises accelerate the adoption of digital technology, how conflict can paradoxically drive digital change, and how digitalization benefits the economy by reducing transaction costs and increasing global connectivity. Additionally, it discusses how e-government supports sustainability through the integration of green technologies with digital solutions. However, significant gaps in the existing literature are identified, especially the need for further research on specific e-government interventions, societal impacts of digitalization, and the integration of green technologies in post-conflict recovery. This review provides a foundation for future empirical studies and offers practical insights for policymakers and business leaders on leveraging digital government to promote economic recovery and sustainable development in post-conflict economies.

12 32 Industry 5.0: a human-centric and sustainable paradigm in industrial evolutionItem type:Publication, conference paper[2026][P1e] ;Nagy, MarekValaskova, KatarinaNew Trends in Contemporary Economics, Business and Management : Selected Proceedings of the 16th International Scientific Conference “Business and Management 2026", May 14–15, 2026, Vilnius, Lithuania, p. 1-9Industry 5.0 has emerged as a conceptual evolution of the technology-centric Industry 4.0 framework, signifying a heightened imperative to integrate human-centric design principles, environmental stewardship, and systemic robustness into the trajectory of industrial advancement. Contemporary research, in contrast to a singular emphasis on efficiency and automation, increasingly prioritizes the wider social and ecological ramifications of technological advancement. The present paper provides a literature-based synthesis built mainly on three recent academic studies that analyse the evolution and current research structure of the Industry 5.0 concept. This analysis is based solely on existing literature, focusing on the main themes that currently shape academic discussions. It particularly emphasizes the creation of human value, the responsible use of resources, and the ability of industrial systems to adapt, while also recognizing the ongoing importance of advanced digital technologies. A comparative approach is used to clarify the differences in goals, scope, and strategic direction between Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0. The growing academic interest suggests that Industry 5.0 represents a shift towards industrial transformation focused on value creation. This requires more research, both in theory and practice.

;Zienkiewicz Marek Hubert ;Bystrzycka, Gabriela ;Iciak, Zuzanna13th International Conference “Environmental Engineering” (ICEE-2026), p. 1-8This study examines the sensitivity of shift estimators between competitive parameters in the Msplit estimation method to potential disturbances in observational data caused by gross errors. The essence of parameter estimation in a split functional model of geodetic observations is to determine, based on a single set of measurements, competitive values of the unknown parameter vector. In this way, the approach naturally serves as a method for determining parameter vector displacements, for example in the deformation analysis of geodetic networks. Using a Monte Carlo approach, empirical influence functions were obtained for the classical squared Msplit estimators of shift of parameters as well as for new variants of this method, including those based on the concept of a strengthening matrix for measurement results corresponding to a specific competing functional model and the elimination of the reversalpoint effect. The empirical analyses were conducted using an example concerning the determination of displacements of controlled points in a leveling control network. The obtained results were compared with those produced using the classical least-squares method.
12 25 Fusion energy for a sustainable future: a review of capabilities and barriersItem type:Publication, conference paper[2026][P1e] ;Huseynov, Mirtoghrul13th International Conference “Environmental Engineering” (ICEE-2026), p. 1-9Fusion energy has come back into the spotlight, as the demand for electricity is increasing with urbanization, electrification, and new high-energy-intensive industries, but also because fossil fuels are depleted, energy systems also need reliable low-carbon energy. This article considers fusion power as a potentially reliable low-carbon option, using the latest scientific literature and publicly available results from supporting installations, International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), and other international fusion research programs. The study first identifies a high level of aggregation of fusion energy, then summarizes the stated advantages for sustainability and the main obstacles that make it difficult to implement. The analysis shows that the system-wide prospectivity of fusion power is associated with a reliable low-carbon supply, but its near-future commercialization is largely limited by engineering sustainability, resource sustainability, thermal management, and initial cost uncertainty. In conclusion, the article separates the test stages from the requirements of the power plant and concludes that if integrated demonstrations do not quickly eliminate the lack of engineering and costs, fusion power will have more long-term benefits than solutions in the near future.
14 30 Impact of management practices on greenhouse gas emissions in the chemical industryItem type:Publication, conference paper[2026][P1e]Aurelija PetkevičienėNew Trends in Contemporary Economics, Business and Management : Selected Proceedings of the 16th International Scientific Conference “Business and Management 2026", May 14–15, 2026, Vilnius, Lithuania, p. 1-10This article provides insights on how management practices impact greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the chemical industry. Semi-structured interview results revealed that management practices such as business strategy, top management commitment, cross-functional employee engagement, functional units tasked with GHG reduction and supply chain management influence GHG emissions indirectly through other factors. The study aims to investigate interlinkages between these factors, while also identifying moderating factors such as pressure from customers, the cost of greener produced products, financial benefits, nuances of production processes and workforce competencies. These findings highlight the complexity of elements affecting GHG emission reduction prioritization and implementation in the chemical industry companies. A conceptual model is presented to summarize the findings.
9 32 - conference paper[2026][P1e]Stecenko, InnaNew Trends in Contemporary Economics, Business and Management : Selected Proceedings of the 16th International Scientific Conference “Business and Management 2026", May 14–15, 2026, Vilnius, Lithuania, p. 1-7
This research focuses on the global environmental problem – climate change. As a pathway for mitigating climate change, the author suggests a transition to “Green Office as a 4/1-day concept”. The essence of the concept is the ability to provide office workers with four working days at their office workplace and one day of work online. In the theoretical part of the article, the author argues the advantages of the concept, formulates the concept, goal, objects, and elements of the “Green Office as a 4/1-day concept”. The aim of the present research is to develop a concept for an eco-friendly office using the Latvian transport industry as an example. During the study, the author came up with the following hypotheses: Н1: Teleworkers in transport industry reduces the volume of transported goods. Н2: The number of cargo transported affects the level of СО2. Н3: The number of passengers transported in Latvia affects the volume of СО2. The author tested this concept on the basis of the PLS-SEM method using the example of the transport industry of Latvia (road freight and passenger transportation). The obtained results not confirmed first hypotheses, but confirmed other hypothesis put forward by the author.
